About that Urban Legend

Back in March, Juan Cole wrote, with his usual smug tone, that the theory that Hariri was killed by a bomb that was planted underground was "an urban legend," and that the real tool was a suicide truck bomb. Of course, his insistence is due to the fact that this supposedly "proved" his hack-a-Bush theory that pins the suicide attack on Islamists, linked to Zarqawi, who crossed over from Iraq.

Well, as Michael Young just noted, it seems that the UN investigative mission "may conclude that his motorcade was devastated Feb. 14 by a massive underground bomb rather than an above the ground terrorist bombing operation."

Oh well, some urban legends may turn out to be true after all, pontifical professorial smugness aside.
